Local Government Summer Institute at Stanford University
The California Statewide Communities Development Authority (CSCDA) is proud to sponsor and offer four (4) scholarships of $8,500 each to the 2026 session of the Local Government Summer Institute (LGSI) at Stanford University.  The session dates are July 19-24, 2026.

Local Government Summer Institute at Stanford (LGSI)
LGSI offers City Managers, County Executives, Regional Directors, Assistant City Managers, Department Heads, Assistant Department Heads, Division Managers and Senior Agency Management team members an opportunity to share their knowledge with program participants and acquire tools for improving local government performance with top Senior Local Government Managers in California.  It offers a unique blend of learning from the faculty of Stanford University and experts in Local Government from around the State.

Themes covered have included strategic thinking in problem solving, smart financial management practices, community engagement, ethical practice and negotiations skills, regional energy transition and water management policy challenges, smart transport and urban infrastructure upgrading to enhance economic competitiveness at the local and regional level, and many others.

Applying for the Scholarship
If you are interested in one of the CSCDA Scholarships to the 2026 session of LGSI at Stanford, please provide the following:

  1. A copy of your completed LGSI application and acceptance to the program.  The application can be found HERE
  2. Your current resume.
  3. A brief cover letter on how you would leverage what you learn from the LGSI at Stanford program to advance the capabilities of your local government agency and enhance your local government managerial capabilities addressed to James Hamill, CSCDA Managing Director at [email protected] by January 23, 2026.

Scholarship Selection Process
CSCDA will review the scholarship applications, select the four scholarship winners and inform all applicants of the selection process results.
